I recently spent the day with Chloe and Tommy as an Ashton Memorial Wedding Photographer at one of my favourite Lancashire wedding venues. Perched high above Lancaster’s Williamson Park this iconic structure commands amazing views across Lancashire and on a clear day, right across to the Lake District. Inside the Round Room within Ashton Memorial, many windows provide loads of beautiful light. It’s the perfect place for a wedding ceremony.
Bridal Preparations for the Wedding Day
I joined Chloe at her parent’s house where she was getting ready with her bridesmaids. The girls were giggling away as they got their hair and make-up done. It was lovely to meet Hair by Olivia and Abbey Holt Hair and Makeup, they did a fabulous job and the girls all looked stunning. I loved Chloe’s Dad’s face as he sew her for the first time, I think we all shed a tear at that point.
My second shooter, was over with Tommy who was hanging out at home with their son, Rudy, and his groomsmen. Rudy looked so smart in his navy blue suit, a mini version of his Dad! The boys were all typically laid back, cracking jokes and enjoying some drinks as they got ready.
Ashton Memorial Wedding Ceremony
While Tommy greeted their guests Chloe was making the short drive up the hill to the Memorial. A small crowd had gathered to wish her well, slightly adding to her pre-ceremony nerves! She held tight to her Dad’s arm as they reached the doorway and her eyes lit up when she saw Rudy and Tommy waiting for her. Rudy didn’t want to leave his parent’s side and spent the whole ceremony in his Dad’s arms. It was lovely to see the three of them share such a big moment together. I certainly manage to capture some fantastic Ashton Memorial Wedding Photography during their ceremony.
After the ceremony we made the most of the venue with a few portraits before the strong winds got a bit too much for Chloe’s hair and veil. As the rain started to fall we knew it was time to head over to Ellel Village Hall.
DIY Village Hall Wedding Reception
Chloe and Tommy were keen to put their own unique stamp on their day so had chosen a village hall they could really go to town decorating. It looked fantastic and well worth the weeks of prep of making their own decorations. When we arrived all the guests were in a real party mood, the formalities were over and they were ready to celebrate. The speeches were packed full of humour and a bit of emotion. Chloe then announced some special guests. Unbeknownst to Tommy, she had arranged for their local choir to make an appearance. Tommy couldn’t hide his smile as they sang his favourite songs. It really set the tone for the rest of the evening and the guests piled onto the dancefloor to the sounds of District 2, a great wedding band who kept the party going all night.
Tommy and Chloe, thank you so much for inviting me to capture your Ashton Memorial wedding. I hope you enjoy looking through some of my favourite images below.
