When Kate and Jeff first contacted me about find a photographer for their wedding at The Castle Green Hotel in Kendal I got really excited because it's such a fantastic venue that I'd been to several times before so I knew it was right in the middle of such a beautiful part of the country in The Lake District. The timing of Kate's e-mail to me couldn't have been any more perfect as I received it just as I was stood at the alter getting married myself in Malta. Unfortunately that meant I had to wait until I was lying on a beach the following day before I could give Kate a call to find out a bit more about their day and to confirm the booking.
BRIDAL PREPARATIONS AT THE FAMILY HOME
Kate's parents live in a gorgeous house literally just over the road from The Castle Green Hotel so it was an ideal place for her to get ready in the morning and it made the hotel the obvious choice for her wedding ceremony. Kate spent the morning being made to look her beautiful best by make-up artist Becka Pearson of Koochi Mobile Beauty while her sister and three brothers also got ready at the family home. After getting in to her stunning dress from Finery Bridal in Leeds, Kate made the short trip to the hotel for the wedding.
CASTLE GREEN HOTEL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
The Castle Green Hotel is one of my favourite venues for a wedding not only because of it's setting in the Lake District but also because of the fantastic building and its gardens. The building itself dates back to 1847 however it has only been in use as a hotel and wedding venue since 1995. Having photographed several weddings at the hotel over the last few years it's always refreshing to see a lot of familiar faces from the very friendly and professional staff who always go the extra mile to make sure every wedding and event there is even more memorable and amazing as the last.
KENDAL CASTLE WEDDING PORTRAITS
One of the best benefits of a wedding in Kendal is having the amazing Kendal castle so near by to make a visit to for some fantastic and memorable photos. Kate's brother was good enough to take us to base of the castle hill in his Range Rover and after a short climb up to the castle there's no shortage of photo opportunities of the castle ruins, the views over Kendal in one direction and the Castle Green Hotel in the other direction.
On their return from the castle the new Mr & Mrs Goodjohn took their place for the speeches followed by a lovely 3 course wedding breakfast then later on in the evening they took to the dance floor for their first dance which continued on to party the night away.
