Ashton Memorial Wedding | Amy & Sam

Ashton Memorial Wedding Ceremony

Amy & Sam met each other about 9 years ago in their first few weeks at Lancaster University and very quickly became a very loved up young couple. They have loads of very happy memories of time spent in Lancaster and particularly in Williamson Park and Ashton Memorial. Early last year Sam got down on one knee at Ashton Memorial to ask Amy to marry him knowing that this was the venue that Amy eventually wanted for her wedding. Of course she said yes and the wedding planning began.

Bridal Preparations at The Ashton

Amy began her preparations for the big day with her four bridesmaids at The Ashton B&B which sits just outside Williamson Park in the shadows of the memorial dome. With the lovely Maired from Wedlocks Bridal Hair Specialists working her magic on the girl’s hair and Jo Coole applying the makeup it’s no surprise that the girls all looked so gorgeous. Spending their morning in the converted loft room of the handsome Georgian manor house of The Ashton it just needed a quick glance out of the window to see where the wedding was soon to take place.

Ashton Memorial is possibly the most iconic building in Lancaster dating back to 1909. The fantastically restored interior is now used to host exhibition, concerts and as you can see below, wedding ceremonies. Externally, the copper dome can be seen for miles around. At around 150 feet tall it dominates the Lancaster skyline. The first floor outdoor viewing gallery provides superb views of the surrounding countryside and across Morecambe Bay. The Memorial was commissioned Lord Ashton as a tribute to his late wife, and the beautiful building has been associated with love and romance ever since so it makes the perfect venue to host a wedding. With its stunning marble floors and sweeping staircases the Memorial has become Lancaster’s most exclusive venue for weddings and civil partnerships. Amy and her bridesmaids arrived at Ashton Memorial in a gorgeous Rolls Royce from Broughton Wedding Cars and after a brief chat with the registrar Amy was walked down the aisle by her proud father to her very emotional groom who had a tear in his eye because of how stunning Amy looked. After a brief ceremony the newlyweds left the venue to a shower of confetti from their guests.

Forrest Hills Wedding Reception

Forrest Hills is an award winning scenic venue which is ideal for smaller intimate weddings. Situated on the edge of the Forest of Bowland in a naturally beautiful and relaxing country setting, it’s a venue with a unique charm and character.

On their arrival at Forrest Hills, Amy & Sam were whisked straight in to their reception room where their guests were waiting for them for the wedding breakfast and speeches. Then it was on to the dance floor for the rest of the night to be entertained by the fabulous 9 piece Jukebox Band who did an amazing job of keeping the dancefloor filled. Then the night was brought to a close with all the wedding guests making their way outside for a sparkler exit before Sam and his friends gave his new wife an hilarious surprise rendition of ‘I can be your Hero’.
